The promotion is available from 3/30/22 through 4/20/22 for customers purchasing qualifying subscriptions from the Australia Autodesk online store. Fusion 360 Nesting & Fabrication Extension.I really like their Generative Design feature too, which I'm totally gonna nerd-out over.*Autodesk online store promotion: This promotion offers up to 25% discount off the Suggested Retail Price (SRP) for purchases of a new monthly, 1-year, or 3-year subscription (excluding taxes) to Fusion 360, and a 1-year subscription (excluding taxes) on the following products: Oh, and doesn't put a hobbyist in the poor house.Įdit Edit: Thanks for all your input, everyone! For CAD, I'm probably gonna stick with SolidWorks, but it looks like Fusion 360 is a very capable bit of kit for the CAM side of things and so I'm gonna take the plunge. Something that I don't have to worry about growing out of in a year. I'm looking for something that is equally capable for both lathes and mills, and produces good parts with quick cuts.
What software do you use? What's good about it, what's bad about it? How does it compare to Fusion? I also like that you can configure Gibbs to automatically use Haas canned routines.Įdit: Watching a Fusion video on turning, and it seems to do collisions just fine. I do appreciate that it shows collisions, which I haven't seen in Fusion yet (just watching videos). I didn't think that Gibbs was that great, and it definitely isn't as pretty as Fusion 360. The limited CAM experience I have - and only for CNC lathes - is Gibbscam. I'm going to check out their CAM package a bit, but it's a fairly new feature and I'm not sure how robust it is compared to other software out there. I'm fluent in SolidWorks, but only for modeling.
